Dirt Bike 2018

Dirt Bike Wipeout 2018 is a challenging racing game in which the player tries to reach the end of various levels in record time while controlling a dirt bike. The game is currently available on Android and a brand new upgrade is coming soon to Android, iOS and Steam with even more levels and increased replayability.

Dirt Bike 2018

Created by Hello Games, this fun family game where the player controls a stunt racer across time-limited levels. The gameplay focuses on stunts and speed, mixing the scrolling platform and racing genre to create a widely popular game.

Core Gameplay Mechanics

The player controls a biker and its motorcycle and must navigate them through a track full of obstacles from start to finish, as fast as possible. The environments consist of 3D models, however the player’s movement is limited to 2D plane (side scrolling). The player can move the bike by accelerating, braking and jumping. The player can also tilt their bike by shifting the bikers’ weight around, in order to overcome certain obstacles or to allow them to get a smoother landing after a jump, so as to not lose momentum and waste time.

Our Role

Full cycle development

Our team was responsible for every aspect of the game’s development, from the initial market research, creation of an MVP, design and development of the gameplay and UI, integration of leaderboards, IAP etc, to the publishing and marketing of the game on the Google Play Store. We spent a lot of time creating and fine tuning the physics of the bike, until the gameplay resembled that of console and PC titles. We then optimized the project to run on mobile without losing any quality (but adding a lot of man hours).

Fun Fact

When we first approached investors in 2016 concerning this title, we were turned down as they deemed it impossible to run the quality of graphics and physics we were demo-ing on a phone. The footage was actually taken from a phone and had not been altered at all.

Reception

The game was released successfully on Android in 2017, ranking for top positions for the “Trials” keyword as well as many other brand based keywords. It receives around 500-2,000 downloads a day and is currently sitting on 100,000 total active installs. We have a four out of five stars rating, with users regularly asking for more content.

Best game. I remember having a game like this on my Xbox, really fun

This is the closest to the original trials that isn’t trials. I really wish the old versions of trails by redlynx still worked on my Samsung Note 4
